Often coincided with our Pre-Vocational Employment Training Program, People’s Arc of Suffolk’s Supported Work and Job Placement Services provides community-based employment opportunities for individuals with evaluations and on-site job coaching services. We connect individuals served in our program with local businesses in search of pre-screened, skilled and highly motivated employees.
To date, we have successfully placed many individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of employment settings across Long Island. These career fields include: maintenance, food service, assembly and packaging, shipping and receiving, grocery, retail, etc. In fact, many participating business owners and managers comment on the loyalty, reliability and low turnover rate of individuals served in our programs.
The remarkable success of our Supported Work program is due in large part to the ongoing involvement of our experienced job coaches. These men and women remain in close contact with both the employer and our individual employee, and are always ready to help resolve any work-related issues. Should the nature of the job change, they help retrain the individual and prepare them to meet the new challenge.
