People’s Arc is on the SEARCH!

People’s Arc is on the SEARCH for people in the I/DD community who are interested in vocational opportunities through The Project SEARCH Transition-to-work Program!

Program details include:

  • Work closely with job coaches and mentors from a partnering business
  • Be guided through an internship process
  • Learn valuable skills
  • Navigate workplace dynamics
  • Prepare for meaningful employment and more!
 

Submissions will be evaluated for all prevocational and Supported Employment (SEMP) programming opportunities at People’s Arc. Please share this with anyone who might be looking for program opportunities. 

Project SEARCH is a nationwide innovative program aimed at
providing young adults with the skills and support needed to secure competitive
employment. This unique, business-led initiative partners with local employers
to create an immersive nine-month internship experience that allow people to
gain hands-on work experience in a real-world setting. Project SEARCH not only empowers people to achieve their professional goals through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training, Project SEARCH also equips people with essential workplace skills, enhances their confidence, and fosters independence. People in the program work closely with job coaches and mentors from the partnering business who guide them through the internship process, helping them learn valuable skills, navigate workplace dynamics, and prepare for meaningful
employment.

  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and diagnosed with an intellectual or
    developmental disability.
  • Have the desire and ability to work independently.
  • Have the ability to participate in community activities at least six hours a day/five days a week.
  • Have their own means of transportation to and from the internship location and be willing and able to be travel trained to use public transportation, SCAT or other transportation independently get to and from work if not already able to do so.
